A Pair of „Pietra Dura“ Consoles

Italy, End of the 18th Century
Sold

This beautiful pair of consoles are fitted with Pietra Dura” marble tops of the 18th Century, very delicately composed of many little marble squares in different colours, surrounded by a black marble frieze, and decorated with gilded lion heads and paw feet.

The Consoles in mahogany and mahogany veneer of seemingly classicist style are dated later, around 190020, and create a sense of modernity thanks to their elegant, clear design. Rare to find also the slim form and little depth, which makes it easy to integrate the pair in rooms with a limited amount of space. Perfect to combine with modern surroundings because of their classic, timeless design.
