Beautiful Buddha Statue

Mandalay Style/Burma around 1900

This graceful statue of the young Buddha is carved, red-colored and leaf gilded. The juvenile Buddha stands on a lotus blossom on a pedestal, the head is astonishingly elaborated with the eyes in finely made glass stones, characteristic for the Burmese Buddha figures, considered to be the most beautiful Buddha statues of all.

The hair is finely executed with dense nubs and the Ushnisha, symbol for his wisdom and highest achievement of spiritual reliance. The beautiful diadem and the monk seal are extensively decorated with ornamental and floral glass stones and small, ornamental and blossom-shaped mirror plates. In his right hand he holds a fruit between his thumb and middle finger, a symbol for fertility.

This touching statue of the young Buddha radiates such a graceful, calm aura, and the rich, elaborate monk seal will make this object to a wonderful highlight in every Interior.
