Fine Demi Lune Salon Vitrine
Around 1900
A very delicate Salon Display Cabinet veneered in satinwood and rosewood, adorned with rich band and thread inlays, and fully decorated with herringbone patterns. The vitrine, crafted in two parts, consists of a console with four gently tapering delicate legs ending in brass sabots.
In the lower part of the Demi Lune console, the four feet are connected by a richly decorated compartment with a central ornament. The upper crown is beautifully adorned with band and thread inlays, encircling the central fields with herringbone patterns. Towards the top, the console section is completed with a wave inlay.
The semicircular display top is three-sided glazed and mirrored on the back wall. The delicate frames are adorned with band and thread inlays. The dainty door, equipped with a small lock, provides access to the interior with two glass shelves. The moulded upper edge is decorated with cube marquetry.
This particularly fine and delicate salon display cabinet is perfect for small elegant spaces, providing a dignified frame for collector’s items.
Exceedingly rare to find are vitrines executed with curved glass, especially when the glass and mirrors are still original from the time of creation.
