Viennese Biedermeier Cabinet with Drawers, around 1825/30
A rare tall Viennese Ladenschrank in nutwood-veneered execution on a softwood body, with rounded edges and standing on half-height legs. The drawer front is visually divided into seven sections, but in fact consists of only six drawers.
The two lowest of the six drawers were constructed as a single large drawer. The piece is made in the so-called sans traverse form, and both the cornice and the base are executed with moulded profiles.
Particularly rare is the twelvefold mirrored veneer pattern, which continues seamlessly across the three visible sides. Also remarkable are the original fittings, whose motifs are extremely uncommon.
Furthermore, this piece contains a narrow secret drawer, which only becomes visible when one of the drawers is fully removed and examined on its underside.
A very rare tall Viennese Ladenschrank with beautifully mirrored nut veneer.
