Small Reading Table, Vienna, Design Thonet

around 1888

Rare model of an elegant small reading table, executed by the significant Viennese furniture manufacturer Thonet around 1888.

This model was made from beech and bent beechwood, which was bent using steam according to the invention of Michael Thonet.

This model was depicted in the catalog of the Thonet Brothers from the year 1888. The frame of the small reading table is executed in an elegantly curved form. The bentwood is stained in dark mahogany and polished with shellac, and the stamped signature is placed under the plate.

A beautiful, timeless, elegant piece of furniture that can be perfectly combined with many interior styles.

This extremely elegant reading table has been restored with great attention to detail in our workshops and reflects the aesthetics and craftsmanship of the Thonet manufacture.

Literature: among others: Sales catalog Thonet Brothers 1888 (see illustration below).
