Marble Column

2nd Half of the 19th Century

Large and heavy Austrian marble column in doric form, out of Engelsberger or Helenen-marble (Lower Austria ), capital and base white-grey veined Carrara marble.

This cherry red color with white veins makes this marble very special, and was used for representative buildings, like, for example the St. Stephans Cathedral and the Kunsthistorische Museum Vienna.
