Very Elegant, Fine Salon Mirror

Very fine­ly carved, won­der­ful­ly leaf gilt Salon Mir­ror with old, divid­ed mir­ror plate. The grooved, in the upper third arched frame in soft wood is rich­ly dec­o­rat­ed with acan­thus leaf gar­lands and cords. The low­er part is enclosed by small, indi­cat­ed feet with foli­ate decoration. 

The fine yet abun­dant­ly embell­ished crown is cen­tered by an ampho­ra flanked by rich gar­land and foli­ate dec­o­ra­tion. Espe­cial­ly note­wor­thy are the del­i­cate­ly exe­cut­ed, hand-carved chain links join­ing into a long chain trail­ing from the sur­mount to the sides, fas­tened by cords.

This mir­ror is an ele­gant and beau­ti­ful exam­ple of the exquis­ite qual­i­ty and del­i­cate hand carv­ing in Italy’s late 18^th century.
